5 reasons to work with a small design studio

It’s not always easy finding a trusted marketing partner that truly understands the unique challenges and opportunities faced by your business. The reason for that is quite simple: most well-known design agencies work almost exclusively with bigger, more well-known brands. In their business model, there is no room to accommodate small and medium-sized business because it is simply not profitable for them.

We at Alkemist are a little different. We’re not in it for the glory. We’re a small experience design studio, that’s genuinely passionate about helping businesses of all sizes grow and succeed. We work primarily with start-ups, small businesses and medium-sized businesses in and around Oslo, Norway because we get them Because we are one of them. We have a similar experience and shared anchor points of running our own business out of passion and true belief in what we do.

Here are five reasons to hire a small design studio instead of the big marketing firm:

Reason #1: Cost
Big agencies often come with an equally big price, and it’s important to understand that higher costs don’t always mean a higher quality of work. Larger companies typically require a lot of overhead—from office space and equipment to salaries and benefits, it costs a pretty penny to keep the lights on at a big agency.

Small design agencies, on the other hand, have far less overhead. Few employees, in our case just the 2 of us, and way smaller operating costs.

Reason #2: Efficiency & Speed
Working with a small design studio is a superior choice for small businesses.  There is a better chance that your money and time are being used as efficiently as possible. We understand that for small business owners, time is money. Our goal is to partner with you to essentially become an extension of your business — for as long as it takes for you to be able to use the solutions and ideas on our own.  One of our goals is not to make you depended on us to do tiny updates on the webpage. We want you to become self-sustainable as soon as it is possible. That is why we put quite some pressure on the learning process of the creative process and that is why you as a business owner are an essential part of the whole shabang.

There’s a level of comfort that comes with knowing exactly who you’re working with, what to expect, and how soon you’ll see results. Our team is smaller, which makes us more nimble and able to innovate and adjust our efforts based on budget, needs, time, etc.

Reason #3: Quality
You can’t necessarily judge the quality of work based primarily on the price tag attached to it. Big marketing firms take many things into consideration when they set up their pricing structure, and quality of work is just one piece of that.

With a small design studio, not only are you able to be more hands-on in the strategy and creation process of the project, you get to more closely monitor the look and feel of the creative being developed. All that to make sure the quality and final outcome, are exactly what you expect.

Here at Alkemis, we pride ourselves on a very high level of contractor and client satisfaction.
Our unique way of designing, Fast Design, allows us to offer our clients a highly competitive price, and to us as designers, autonomy over our own schedules and the freedom to work on projects we are interested in, doing work we love.  We’re proud of the work we do, and we’re grateful for the opportunity to do what we love while helping you grow your small business.

Reason #4: Simplicity
Working with Alkemist and our partner companies allows you to get in touch not only with a great designer but accordingly to your needs, we can put you in touch with agency writing amazing test and company that you will promote you on social media and will make sure that your target marketing is on point. And we do it all with small businesses like yours in mind.

Reason #5: Passion
The bottom line is we at Alkemist want to work with small and medium businesses because it’s where our passions lie. To ous, there’s no better feeling than knowing that with our work we contribute to something bigger.

Unfortunately, many big agencies set prices or project minimums so they don’t have to work with smaller companies and smaller budgets. The way we see it, however, is that their loss is our gain. It’s our pleasure to partner with your small business—finding ways to innovate and get your brand in front of new audiences.
